"Blues in the Night" Singer Carol Woods Monday, September 24

Carol WoodsCritically acclaimed actress/singer Carol Woods will be interviewed Monday, September 24 at 11:00 a.m. on "The Power of Blues Compels You." Ms. Woods is currently singing in the smash musical Blues in the Night, held over at the Post Street Theatre through October 28. Ms. Woods also appears on the soon-to-be-released movie Across the Universe, and her song was featured on Oprah. ( view a clip, starting at 1:35) A pair of tickets will be given away to this stellar production and, if you're lucky, she may grace us with a sample of her vocal chops. Don't miss it!

KPOO Radio would like to thank San Francisco Board of Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi from district five, for recognizing KPOO with a Certificate Of Honor Award. This award was presented to KPOO at the Tuesday, February 13, 2007, San Francisco Board of Supervisors meeting at City Hall in recognition of Black History month.

UNSUNG HERO AWARD

KPOO radio would like to thank the San Francisco Public Library, Friends of the Public Library, The Unsung Heroes committee and Mayor Newsom for recognizing and honoring KPOO's JJ with the 2006 Unsung Hero Award. This award was presented to JJ at the 18th annual Unsung Hero Awards Celebration honoring everyday heroes in the African American community, November 19,2006 in the Koret Auditorium at the main Library.

Lee meyerzove passed away

Long time KPOO programmer Lee Meyerzove die this past monday, October 23, 2006. Lee was the host of the San Francisco board of supervisors meetings that was broadcast on KPOO radio every monday afternoon.

I remember Lee as being a man who excelled in his profession;talk program host,in the last few years I had not had contact with him,He will be missed.

Class Act Award

On Sunday, October 8, 2006 at San Francisco's Fillmore Big Band Dance festival and B.B.Q cook-off. KPOO radio received the CLASS ACT AWARD From Fillmore Live.....The Fillmore Jazz Preservation District. This award was presented to KPOO radio for it's outstanding community service.
